Clyde L Kuehn was born in Belleville, IL on October 9, 1948. He received his B.A. degree from the University of Illinois and his J.D. degree from the University of Kentucky. He served as a prosecutor for St. Clair, Monroe and Perry counties from 1973 to 1980, and was the St. Clair County State’s Attorney from 1976 to 1980. He was engaged in private law practice from 1980 to 1994, during which time he served as public defender for St. Clair County and attorney for the Metro East Transit District and the Village of Shiloh. He was appointed a Circuit Judge for the 20th Judicial Circuit in November, 1994 and was assigned to the Fifth District Appellate Court in August, 1995. He served as the Presiding Justice for the Fifth District Appellate Court from 1996-1997. He retired from the Appellate Court in 2005. He is a past president of the St. Clair County Bar Association and a member of the Illinois State and American Bar Association and the American Trial Lawyers. He served as a Chairman of the Supreme Court’s committee on Complex Litigation. He served on the Workers’ Compensation Commission. He presently devotes his time to a diverse practice including civil litigation, criminal defense and appellate work.
