Alex Starnes is a third-generation attorney from Belleville, Illinois. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in History from the University of Missouri–Columbia, then received his Juris Doctor from Southern Illinois University School of Law in Carbondale.

While in law school, Alex interned with the St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office and clerked for a Circuit Judge, gaining valuable insight into both prosecution and the judicial process.

After graduating from law school, Alex joined a prominent Metro East plaintiff's law firm, where he traveled throughout the country conducting hundreds of depositions in complex litigation that resulted in millions of dollars recovered for injured plaintiffs.

Alex later returned to public service as an Assistant State's Attorney for St. Clair County. There, he gained extensive courtroom and trial experience prosecuting cases ranging from traffic offenses and misdemeanors to serious felonies. He ultimately served in the Violent Crime Unit, where he tried multiple first-degree murder cases in both first and second chair capacities. This experience gives him a practical understanding of how prosecutors evaluate cases and how juries respond to evidence, allowing him to advocate effectively for clients at every stage of the litigation process.

Today, Alex focuses his practice on criminal defense and personal injury law. His diverse background representing injured plaintiffs and prosecuting serious criminal cases provides him with a unique perspective that benefits clients facing complex legal challenges. Whether defending individuals accused of crimes or advocating for those injured through the negligence of others, Alex is committed to providing strategic, thorough, and zealous representation.

Outside the office, Alex prioritizes spending time with his family and friends and playing the occasional round of golf. He and his wife, Erica, who is also a practicing attorney, reside in Belleville.
